Our Wedding Invitations

Since I can't have you all there, I wanted to still send you an invitation through this post!
One of my favorite things is to send something beautiful for one to receive. I love the creative world of stationery, papers, stamps and the endless ways one can express a message through the old fashioned post. When the time came to create my own wedding invitations I made sure they would be something very special, and made with love using my own hands.

The invitations were carefully designed fitting in with our theme of gardenia paper flowers and touches of pastel blush pinks. The hand dyed silk ribbons wrapped each boxed invitation, topped with a sheen pearl paper that read "Walking on the beach together, hand in hand they'll be forever"

As you open the box, each invitation is topped with a handmade gardenia paper flower and dried peony petals. I then wrapped sheer tulle over the flower and petals to soften them.

The tulle is wrapped around the inside of the invitation to add soft details throughout

Each box was carefully wrapped with pearl white crinkly paper that illuminated each package so perfectly. Our guests mean the world to us and we thank them for receiving these invitations so graciously~ We love you all so very much and cannot wait to share our special day with you!

Water Lilies | Wandering Waters

There's a story within every artist behind their work. For this creation, my story is about love and a vision. Years ago I had the opportunity to stand only a few feet away from Monet's famous lilies in the exquisite museum, Musse D' Orsay. That moment everything in the world stopped as my eyes were lost in the wandering waters and brush strokes he shares with us. My dear husband to be took my love of Monet and mixed it with my love of paper. He is my creative process behind this piece, inspiring me to bring the lilies to life in a new form. So here you have lilies and lily pads sculpted out of heavy cotton paper. After carefully designing the scene on canvas I paint with oils bringing the subjects to life. It's unique media is quite special and very unusual. And there you have my story of the Wandering Waters. "It's art that changes our perspective of the world"

The 3rd one I put on. Some might call it lucky, and it was. I found the perfect wedding dress yesterday. With the help of my mom and sister they confirmed the details with me. We customized it and made it my own. It's perfect and I cannot wait to put it on again! I would love to share with you but Mr. Finance might see, So for now I'll share these delicate shades I've chosen for my wedding. I just made buckets of these for a new quaint & tasteful paper store called Details located in Newport Beach. They're going to give the store a farmer's market feel as the customers can pick as they like. Each one is wrapped in lovely newspaper & tied with a fanciful tag.

The Day We got Engaged

~He told me Christmas night we had to leave by 1:00pm the following day~

He planned lunch at one of our favorite places in La Jolla CA. and that night we'd stay at The Hotel Del Coronado waking up to the ocean on my birthday. I couldn't sleep knowing he planned such an exciting couple days for us. It was the most perfect way to finish off the year and relax.

December 26th we woke up so refreshed, I was sitting with my cat in my new plush white robe drinking a fresh juice Mike made for us. I was in a moment to myself and was so happy: Christmas came and passed, our families are all healthy, looking forward to taking off with my love. As these thoughts were going through my mind, Mike came over to Jade and I gave me a kiss on the forehead and asked if I'd like to open one of my birthday gifts early. He said "It's something I thought you might want to wear today" As he walked into the other room, I thought to myself.. "what could it be, a dress? No, it's probably a sweater". (which I was really looking forward to wearing cause he usually buys me something from Anthropologie) haha.
He comes out with a white shirt box wrapped with burgandy ribbon he found from my ribbon box of scraps. I laughed, giving him complements on his wrapping... I opened the box with him and inside was a tiny black box... He picked it up and smiled. It still didn't register in my mind...
"Will You Marry Me?" he said.
He said other things too, yet I was crying and nearly suffocated him with my affection I don't remember what else he said. I was in a state if euphoria that will only happen once in my life. It was a perfect moment that held everything important, a moment we'll never forget.
My partner for life, my best friend.

Off we went to The Historic Hotel Del Coronado celebrating. This hotel was built over 120 years ago holding some of the most majestic views of the pacific.

Our time there was indescribable, we were elated in pure bliss every second.

Together, in our own paradise.

Night of our engagement, what a gift.

Morning of my birthday, another gift.

I love you Mike, the best gift.

Little did she know, her words moved me in endless ways that I'm forever grateful for. Awakening

A recognition, realization, or coming into awareness of something:

I've come to the realization of what defines me.

For the past few months I've been pouring my happiness into managing a bountiful store.

I put Fanciful aside thinking I could fulfill both. Recently I woke up from that thought realizing the place that makes me happiest is when my eyes are blinded from pure white cotton paper, when my hands spend hours on tiny details that one appreciates and when someone expresses my art brings joy to their life. That simply is where I'm happiest.

So I've taken the leap of faith by resigning from my steady job to put my heart where it belongs.

La Chasse au Bonheur

I'm engaged in what the French call la chasse au bonheur, the hunt for happiness.

In Europe you find one who self indulges at a tiny table or a park for hours. Lingers excessively without guilt while entertained by tiny details that spark into something majestic. You find one sketching, reading, thinking or day-dreaming. No wonder most of the world's greatest philosophers came from Europe. They found inspiration from the dewy sidewalks, couples interacting, or just simply from starring into space until something radical popped into their head. It's not even about the coffee or food, it's about the moments that created a philosophy or a famous painting.

What exactly is it that Europe has that we Americans crave? If I were to linger at my cafe down the street here in Newport Beach I would feel guilty, while thinking to myself "I should get going, I have too much to do to be doing nothing" And even if I tried this, it wouldn't work. Most people would be in a rush, while talking on their cell phones. Not embracing time, or appreciating the way the sun lights up the crystal chandelier and dances through the room. I'm one of those 'people' and it saddens me. La Chasse au Bonheur is something I will always search for here. I'll always hunt for that inspiration that comes from doing, what we call, nothing while one in Europe may call it subjective well-being.

I will hunt for the grand happiness that comes from the pleasure of engaging life and appreciating it's curious surroundings.

Anyone who knows me well knows that Peonies are my favorite. I could wrap myself up in this soft delicate lactiflora for hours appreciating it's wondrous smell, tender appearance, and it's natural perfections just as I could being in this shop called PEONY.. PEONY was planted in Melbourne Australia and opened it's doors to carry some of the finest fragrances from around the world. Along with French candles, endless palettes of soaps and creams and a pure line of skincare that is Vrai ("True" in French) for your skin. Not to mention the sparkling jewels that dance throughout this store reflecting all things feminine. PEONY has wrapped me up in each one of it's layers allowing me to fall in love with the shop just as much as I love the flower.

I forgot to mention that I'm creating some of my French Paper Flowers that will fill their inviting entrance filling their crystal clear windows. I'm thrilled to see the outcome as the store has gorgeous dark architecture - I know the contrast of the Creamy White Flowers by the rich vertical frames will look stunning. Jill, the owner of PEONY has some creative ideas and I look forward to sharing with you when it's complete!

PEONY carries many French candle lines; Cire Trudon being my personal favorite who has been lighting up the streets of Paris on Rue Saint-Honore since 1673. The Laduree umbrella rained my Petite Paper Shoes...

Black & White accents created a classy and bold setting for all the lookers creating a perfect sweetheart backdrop for the brides to be.. The Philippe Starck lucite chairs didn't take away from the display as
the black numerical embroidered pillow from The Beautiful Life was a perfect accent..
The dusty chandelier added the perfect touch of old charm..
My New guestbooks/albums were loved by many...
The huge paper flowers looked like butter cream~

At last, it was a wonderful show at the Bridal Fair by the Sea!

The best part was having my mom there from FrenchBlue to help every part of the way!

Bridal Fair by the Sea - Getting Ready

I'm so excited and looking forward to participating as a vendor at the Bridal Fair by the Sea!

It's this Sunday and you're ALL invited!

I know you all don't live here, BUT if for any chance you're near, I'd love to see you!

It's located in Dana Point, CA overlooking the beautiful pacific.

Over 100 vendors such as Jo Malone, Paper Melange, Williams Sonoma, and more in the wedding industry will be there featuring the latest trends.

My booth will be a large 8'x10' space with white flowing linens featuring my large paper flowers, shoes, and guestbooks inside the enchanted ballroom at the Laguna Cliffs Resort.
These pictures are some inspirations and the colors I want to include in my space.

What do you think? I think I'd like a chandelier too.. and some old french chairs for props...

A Raw Occasion

Sometimes life surprises me and now is one of those times.

Our close friends Keith & Suzanne recently introduced 'raw' to Mike and I and

I've become more and more amazed by the lifestyle, well-being and creative aspects.

This totally surprises me because I'm one of those people who used to think vegetarians, raw foodies, vegans were weird. I just love food too much and could never understand why people would cut their diets so short and choose to miss out on the good stuff.

Lately, my thoughts are gradually changing. We've been eating so whole and pure my mind and body have completely transformed. I'm so excited about it, I had to share with all of you~ It's a feeling that's almost unexplainable and even more powerful than you hear. My energy level has increased a million times and by head feels crystal clear all the time.

How could you ask for more when your life suddenly becomes more enjoyable?

Tonight Keith & Suzanne are having us over for dinner. Suzanne is going to prepare a Raw American inspired meal of Garden Veggie Burgers, Jicama Fries, 'Mashed Potato's' with Mushroom Gravy and for dessert, Chocolate Ice Cream Sundaes.

I'm so excited to be in each other's company and discuss this incredible Raw Occasion.
I'm planning on bringing a hostess gift and wanted your advise~
Should I bring some Fresh Potted Herbs that she can keep in her kitchen?

Or should I bring my Homemade Raspberry Hibiscus White Tea & Ginger over ice with my recipe attached and a bundle of Fresh Mint?

(This tea is sooo yummy. All you need is 1 cup of water to a boil then add 5 White Tea bags and 5 Raspberry Hibiscus tea bags, 1.5 tsp of fresh graded ginger, reduce heat and add agave nectar to desired sweetness. Let stand for 30 minutes off heat, strain into a pitcher and add 2-3 cups of cold water. Serve over ice with fresh mint & raspberries. Emmmm~~ I drink this all day everyday!)

Designs for Christian Dior

A few weeks ago I received a phone call from the Artistic Director of Christian Dior Parfums inquiring about my work. My heart stopped and my hands started shaking as that moment my dreams as an artist came true. For such a superior icon of fashion and design to notice my work it felt entirely unreal and rewarding.
First let me say, he was the nicest man. He had so much excitement in his voice, I immediately felt like I was talking to an old friend while sharing common interests of design.
After a wonderful 'meet & greet' he requested samples of 4 different flowers. I learned they would be used in a presentation for possible usage for Dior's packaging.

One of the flowers being a Daisy, and the other 3 a Rose blooming in 3 different stages.

He wanted one of the 4 flowers to be Dove Grey as he explained "Very Dior".

I immediately decided to design the Daisy representing the color of Dior. It was the only one with cut petals so I thought with the painted finish it would be a perfect fit. The Daisy turned out to be my favorite. Maybe because it took the longest to make or simply because of it's color? 1st Stage of the Rose~ (Below)

Not completely bloomed and still looks like a rose bud as the petals are closer together.

Petals are further apart and now the rose has bloomed

3rd Stage of Rose (Below)

Final state of it's life, petals are completely bloomed before they begin to fall off.

After creating these I had to make sure my packaging would

complement my highly adored flowers, so I found these perfect lucite boxes. I was thrilled as they didn't take away from the design of the flower.

Lastly I put them in box that I lined with a very Sheen Black fabric.

And at last, off they went to the Fashion House of Dior Parfums in Paris~

I'm very honored and so thankful I had this opportunity to create for the professionals of Dior.
Even though they have decided to go in another direction for them, I know that I'll hold on to this forever as it's one of the greatest gifts I've received for myself yet.

My Mom had these at her house for her Birthday. (My sister and I made Pink Sugar Cookies with Buttercream Frosting and this is what my Mom has out on her Astier platter. Filling the room with a soft Rose' scent. The sugar cookies weren't important anymore.. :0 Mom has a way of finding the BEST)

Anya made us all a hat! Claudia picked up the balloons, Simply Mel made the organic white laced cake, Lynn put together the favors, Judith has a vintage prize! Sande wrapped all the pink presents, I will hang the paper garlands, Dana made calligraphy place cards, Terri got the champagne, Mandy has some Bonbons, G has the games,

Lisa picked out our dresses, Vicki will tell us a story, Ness is bringing the package toppers, Tara planned a French brocante for us, Di's daughter is going to sing for us!

And everyone else is going to be there to celebrate!

I find myself always welcoming the rain..

I enjoy serving up a hot cup of tea as the drops coat my windows.

But there's something more when the rain gives a visit...

It's as simple as a little girl flying her arms around and allowing herself to be free. It reminds me to embrace the infinite moments in life vs. the 24hrs in a day that I usually live by.

It reminds me to slow down and welcome all that surrounds me.

It reminds me to pick up a journal and let my mind write...

Before I left to San Francisco I promised to bring you back something special... So we stopped by this dreamy creative shop called 'Tail of the Yak'

every little corner had something that inspired me.

Even their gold logo on their boxes were special~ The Christmas angel made of hay greeted me from the window I couldn't wait to get inside, so I rang the bell to enter. And got my hands on something sweet & special for one of YOU! I had them wrap it with their pretty bow & a little pink mushroom from Germany.

Inside is a decorative ornate stone-like block. BUT, this isn't just decorative, little did I know, It's made of TEA!

Compressed tea that holds the aroma of fine black tea.

They told me you break off a piece and brew it just like any other tea.

The Gift of Inspiration

We don't get to choose when we want to be inspired. We may try, but the flow of it all may not be clear. So when inspiration does come it's a gift.

Your mind is instantly hit with a million thoughts.

I don't know about you, but I can't sleep and go crazy thinking.

I endlessly hunt, play, imagine and collect, so I can make sense of my thoughts in order to create.

Finally the color of soft pistache,vert and green tea inspired me.
So now I'm celebrating as I've completely opened my gift!

And my gift was to give Fanciful a "logo"

I fell in love with the color and knew it would stay with me forever. I wanted something that reminded me of Paris, something subtle and classy and something that would complement Fanciful. So this is what I got when I embraced my gift~

I'm so excited to have it done in time for the holidays and to wrap my fanciful creations with my new gifts!! My Moment with Laduree

My parents just got home from Paris and brought back some very special things...

As I opened my eyes and saw a Laduree box with my name on it, my mouth began to water.

It was that first bite of Rose' that instantly infused my mouth with a burst of remarkable flavor and textures. I couldn't resist and ate another.

My mind stopped for a moment and I just sat there in awe. I stared and the box, felt it's fine embossed details, while the sweet aroma filled the air. After my moment, I cried!
I cried with macaroon crumbs all over me.
Now I'm thinking I have issues! I've had Laduree specialities before, but they seem to get more and more special. What comforts me is that I can write about my moment and know there are many of you out there who relate. :)

This season I wanted to do something extra special. So I gathered some rare pink abalones and white scallop shells and created the most unique gift holder! They are so pretty with crushed diamond dust... I absolutely love these!

Here's how they work:
You pull back the French text paper, stuff candies, gift cards, money, jewelry, or anything you can fit! Then, remove the green seal and close it shut!
On the back is a decorative "Open Me" tag
for the special person who receives it.

Ohh I love these, and I love all they can do. They make the most perfect stocking stuffer, gift topper, or even placed on one's pillow. (My mom would always do that for me and it always made my heart smile when I came home to a card, a little present, or candies placed on my bed pillow, just because... I love you mom!)

The Power of Sharing~

A long long time ago Claudia from The Paris Apartment viewed this world through her own eyes and saw pieces of her passion in everything. Capturing things she was passionate about and made them "come alive" and shared her love with others. Back in 2006 when she begun blogging she compassionately expressed her travels to Paris, told all the viewers how she just loved old French perfume labels, old French handwritten letters, fresh peonies, heavenly blue skies, squeaking floors of an old building and my gosh, so much more... I'm sure so many of us can relate and see the beauty in this world as Claudia does. It's in the small things that are small to many but BIG to people like us.

I myself, have always admired Claudia's blog. When I visit I see a truly genuine person through the lines she writes and that has always brought me back to her blog. I did not know how powerful she was until my Mom (of French Blue & Co.) and I sat at lunch one day and my Mom said her google analytics went out the roof when Claudia mentioned my Moms website on her blog. Soon after, Claudia has opened the door for many and is now offering advertising on her blog. And, I am happy to say that I recently came on board with her and am managing the ads for her. :-) I am thrilled to help her out with this as she has built The Paris Apartment so well I admire her drive and passion towards her business.
The Paris Apartment has very reasonable rates! And it's a gorgeous place! For the last couple weeks Claudia and I have been cranking it out and I have found that there has been such positive feedback from the current business who advertise on her blog.

There are certain people you meet in your life that you know are special. I met Ninetta Herbert years back when we had Arbor. (Arbor was our family dream shop).
Ninetta is such a sophisticated and beautiful woman. I can talk to her for hours about details of papers, old antiques and festive tiny things. She and her husband live in the old Nixon estate in San Clemente, Ca. Some may know it as "La Casa Pacifica"

Recently she requested a custom album to hold pictures of Nixon's China trip from 1972.
So, here it is!

We chose classy colors of Gold and Black...

My favorite part of making custom albums is knowing it's going to hold some unforgettable moments in a personal handmade album. This one not only moments, but History as well.

"Coco Before Chanel" - 15 More Days!

A few months back, Judith from Paris Atelier shared the exciting news of "Coco before Chanel" being released in France, and now it's finally our turn!
We have all been awaiting it's arrival~ Will be released in theaters on September 25th!
I thought the bio from last year was great, but I think this may be better!?

I've become a fan of Audrey Tautou who is playing as Coco, which makes me even more excited to see this movie.

If you have/haven't read Judith's post on this, go see or see again! It will get you even more excited along with more info on the movie and other great pictures!

Judith's Coco PostYes, I've got my favorite Trader Joes's popcorn stocked up and ready to pop in advance for the movie. It is OK to bring your own! This has the perfect buttery and salty combo you won't want the theatre yuk anymore. And even more, it's the perfect size, not too big or too small. That's why I pop one bag alllll for myself and never feel guilty. :)

Special Occasions have always been close to my heart. I just love celebrations of any kind and feel it's important to share my ideas with others in hopes they can use my creations to make their day or someone elses a little more special!In the Special Occasion floor you will find sweet tokens, vintage party goodies and fine decoration designs for any special day!

And yes, there are many more one-of-a-kind signature pieces that I've been working on as well. The Signature floor will always carry my unique creations. I will always be adding more and to each floor as this is just the start!

Unique French Writing Boxes

Inspired from elegant hand written French manuscripts and simple treasures from the ocean these little boxes were created. Made from copies of original French manuscripts, real sea elements, natural wax, and bakers twine.

This is one of my projects that I've been working on. These can be used as favors to fill or give a gift by putting a token inside. Each one is so special with a unique handmade touch.

I'm already decorating with them...

And I love how they look with my number books.I didn't forget red. For a romantic traditional statement.

Ghosts of Versailles

Over the weekend we went to see "The Pageant of the Masters" in Laguna Beach. Every year they have a theme and create "living" art by taking images once painted by a famous artist and have real people in the painting that create the paintings into a three dimensional illusion creating an art you'll never forget. You are stunned by the talent, live orchestra, and all the life scale paintings. If you haven't been, you will have to see someday.

These images I'm sharing aren't from the Pageant, they're from one of the 145 artists that exhibit their work all summer each year.

Tim Dey used only bubble wrap and plastic to create these life size costumes.

People wore these for a fashion show.
Ghosts of Versailles he calls them. I just love it!
Oh it was fun! I hope everyone is doing well~ I am coming closer to launching my additions to Fanciful. It's taking longer than I thought but I want it to be perfect. :)

I am really speechless. How have I never heard of her?

I found myself wandering in the library the other day getting books for my new projects... life does this sometimes to me and put me in the right place so quickly as I opened the first book I grabbed from the shelf and found a picture of an incredible piece of paper art by Susan Cutts.
As I share Susan Cutts talent, I also want to write this note to you all....

Dear Friends,
When I began blogging I was blown away by all the talent, inspiration and most of all, all the warm people I found on here. It immediately drew me into a different world. I found myself blogging for hours and hours a day as it quickly took over my mind. I've realized, if I continue to float in this world, I have less time for me, my creativity, family, friends, fanciful, and just being. I always thought I could eventually balance it, but I'm not the type that can. I'm trying to make my little self known in this beautiful world as an artist and want to continue making my living from it. As that is my main goal I have to discipline myself some. So I've decided to use my blog for my personal journal only to share with others. I'm still here and I still visit EVERY single one of YOUR blogs often... but in silent. I know you understand, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. ~My very best to all of you~

Back Home from Santa Barbra~

Blue Hydrangeas with yellow hints, warm people, weather that kisses your skin, shopping and yummy food. Just a perfect getaway.

We just got back from a wedding in Santa Barbra...

The two sweetest people, Mike & Julie had their reception at this exquisite hotel called The Fess Parker Double Tree Inn Hotel. It's a giant hotel that stretches along the coast of Santa Barbra.

The 3rd floor of the hotel is a lovely location that looks over the pacific and the lush green mountains. On our way home Mike drove me to my favorite stops. Above is a cafe grocery called Pierre LaFond in Montecito. They carry some tasty French treats and have yummy food along with a favorite shop upstairs.

We didn't get to see Oprah's $52 million Georgian designed estate (above) but we saw some beautiful homes tucked away in the hills as we drove for miles and miles through the peaks of Montecito. The weather couldn't have been more perfect.

We ended our stops in Summerland. My parents have taken me there since I was little and I always love what I see. It's a small town south of Montecito filled of antique shops and my favorite flower shop called Botanik.
I missed you guys and am excited to go see what you've all been up to! Happy 1st of July! I'm filled of inspiration and excited to continue working on the new additions for Fanciful. I Hope your are having a beautiful week~~ xo Noel

Who doesn't love cupcakes?

Today was one of those days where everything just fell in to place. I met Mike for lunch and after I wanted a coffee so I went next door to grab one and ran into an old friend that I went to design school with. Her Name is Christi Remland, little did I know, she's an exceptionally good baker and makes some ultra delightful cupcakes!
I had to share, as I died when I saw she bakes them in nut cups! These look like droplets from heaven. When we met, over 5 years ago she was so talented and creative... but I had no idea she was a true confectionery artist. She has traveled to Chicago to learn the tricks and techniques and now offers her wonderful talent for events, parties, weddings and more. I will be ordering these nut cup cupcakes from her for my next festivity!

Creations, Loves and some of Home...

My Goyard. I bought this 6 years ago from a Flea Market here in California. At the time when I got it, I had noooo idea what it was. I have never heard of "Goyard" And obviously, the seller didn't know either because I paid a lot less than it's worth!! :0

A few years later, my parents came home from Paris and I noticed my moms new purse my dad bought her from Goyard. She told me everything about Goyard and said how amazing it is.

I went home that night and went to my trunk to get some shells out of it... then I looked closely and noticed it had the same pattern on it that was on my moms purse!

I looked closer and saw "G O Y A R D P A R I S" Engraved in the metal. I Screamed So LOUD of excitement as my heart dropped to the floor. I found a treasure, my own and I will have this forever. It's the only purse I'll every carry. What's your favorite purse??

A New Place

There's something outstanding that happens when someone hands you a set of keys and says "here you go!" You feel like you can do anything . Do you know what I'm talking about!? Today we got our keys to our new place!

I've packed all my treasures... and still packing more...

I've thought about how I want our new place to be fresh... With an all white bed..

And, Mike does a good job of reminding me when I get sad about leaving our first place together that we still have each other.

There's a very GOOD thing too! My sister and her unconditional love! I'm so excited to live with her again. We haven't for 10 years and this is probably our last opportunity. The Flower Girls Shoe ~

I'm getting ready to move next weekend and I'm getting nervous thinking about that I have to put all my papers, paints, textiles, ribbons... pretty much my life in a box for a few days. Before I started packing, I wanted to make a shoe.

And inspired because tomorrow my parents will be married for 25years!! Congratulations, and I love you so much~ Their Anniversary got me thinking of weddings for some reason... but more than weddings... the little precious parts of weddings...
And I thought to myself,
"What would a flower girls shoe look like if the petals from her basket fell on her shoe?"

In my mind, it looked so delicate and pure with the suns light shining through the sheer details.

So I made some paper petals that are so lightly touching this shoe. They look like they were naturally dropped there. I wish, I wish you could see this in person~ The petals are slightly shimmery - just like a real petal kissed from the sun. Now I shall put the important things in my life in a box.... But let me tell you... when they come out I will be so excited to make a mess again! (Well, I am keeping a few things out... some things for a Tutu of course~)

My Finished Marie Antoinette Shoe~

And here it is! Today I finished putting the icing on the cake! Soft pink silks, hand-dyed papers by me, rhinestones that make the flowers sparkle, and feminine twists made this shoe come to life! I spent a few hours trying to figure out what textiles and embellishments work with each other, and let me tell you, I had so much fun!

So I was! I pondered and flipped through pictures... there were endless options, I thought even a feather would look good as she always had them in her hair. Maybe on the next shoe?

Marie Antoinette and her Shoes...

Claudia from The Paris Apartment just arrived home from Paris a couple days ago and she posted some great photos of Marie Antoinette. If you haven't read Claudia's story about stepping into the city and feeling fabulous, you must go read it! I think every women can relate! I loved it.

My next creation I'm working on is a Marie Antoinette Shoe.. I had a lady request one and told me "to be inspired by Marie Antoinette". How fun is that?!
So I have been hunting around for pictures that inspire me. She wants her shoe to be made of satin bows, pinks, silks, feminine touches, a pointy toe and of course, made of paper! I thought the color of the Marie Antoinette The' box from Laduree will make the perfect base color for the shoe. I love how they incorporated our favorite, Laduree throughout the movie! Marie Antoinette wouldn't take her medicine so the chocolate store would have to incorporate it in the chocolates they made for her. The original chocolate shop still stands today in Paris and it's called "Chocolat Debauve & Gallais" When you plan your next trip to Paris with Claudia you will have to go! The aroma when you walk in is so rich and velvety. You will walk out with more chocolate and tea than you can fit in your suitcase!

I grabbed this photo from Claudia, I thought it was perfect as far as textures and silks for the shoe creation... If anyone has a great photo share with me! I can't wait to post my Marie Antoinette Shoe! If only we could wear them and feel Fabulous!

Miss Swan

She has been coming more and more alive! Dear Dana from A Fine Line wanted a beautiful window display and asked if I could make a paper bird. In my mind, I will make anything of paper! As we got into the project, I asked... what do you think of a swan? She laughed, as she was just thinking the same thing as she was looking through her French book! And that is how Miss Swan came to life...

She isn't quite finished yet, but I couldn't wait to share. Today I will be sealing and adding more paper to smooth her out. She will also get some fancy paper feathers on her wings!

And, Janet found this Handmade Vintage Umbrella that was once used as a prop! I think it makes the perfect prop for Miss Swan!

Miss Swan is life size and completely made of paper, plaster and more paperie!

I am so happy she is going to such a wonderful home.

Let's Save the Bees...

I stopped in Anthropologie the other day because a friend of mine told me that they had paper bees in their newest display. So, of course I get in the car and drive over to see them. I didn't find paper bumble bees. But I was so drawn to their "bee" theme. They had potted lavender, A display from floor to ceiling of honey, fields, books on bees and old flea market finds of bee props. The sweetest was packaged lavender seeds with a handmade tag that said
"Save the Bees"

Sure enough, this morning as the sun welcomed me with it's warmth I look down in my lavender plant and find this friendly little bee. I never knew that lavender is the main flower bees are attracted to. I think I will have to plant some more!

I'm sure most of you know how never is the history of humanity have we seen so many bees die. I know, it's sad. But this morning when I found this little bee it put a smile on my face. And it does feel good knowing I planted that just for him. I hope you can find a little place in your garden and experience the same thing I just did. ;)

A European Touch

This is my idea for a perfect morning...
A dark cup of coffee poured freshly in my white cup and homemade waffles wrapped in bakery wax newsprint. I can feel the warmth and smell the fresh sugar carmalizing.

Maybe take a bath then wrap myself in a fresh rolled cotton towel while I grab some fresh blooms and place them around the house. Then make a trip down to the local bakery and sit on an aqua bench. while I overlook the ocean and maybe eat my fresh baguette from the bakery before it goes in the kitchen.

A Nest from Heaven

I have been a little bird at work creating my nest! My mom always finds nests on her walks ever since I was little. She has taught me everything I know about them. And it's quite interesting how much there is to know! Inspired by a mud nest I used plaster to take place as the mud then gathered different textiles and weaved them all together...

Representing the beginning of life, so fragile, and pure.

This is how I chose to display it on my coffee table.

It amazes me how a little bird makes their nest from the oragnics of nature.

French Blooming Fleurs

Sharing my Spring with you....

I have had this idea in my head for some time and with the right season here I finally was able to make it come to life!

The fleurs are made of washed vintage French linens cut and sculpted on canvas making a whimsical soft piece of art for a wall. And, as it hangs on my wall... it really does soften them! I am usually very picky and hard on myself with my designs.. but not with this one... I am in love! Close up of mini fleur Bloom bloom away and watch them grow!

Once I came across this website I fell in love with the pillow above that Bonjour Mon Coussin call Acte. Completely made in France with art covering each design. I love pillows and I love French writing and when I found this.. you could imagine how excited I got!

"With Bonjour mon coussin change your interior in a blink." Says the founders Claire and Paul. And I can only agree with them after finding these fun cushions...

"plan" I love this one too.

Now, this one.. just makes me smile every time I look at it. I think it would be so cute in a little girls room. And the detail of the macarons.. hmm I'll take the pistachio. Funky and different.. but they pull it off very well!

Growing Up in a Beautiful Home

Yes, it's true.. this is where I grew up.

It is magical, love and will always be home.

All white french armchair with a Le Meurice Hotel pillow that sits in the family room next to a door that opens to the ocean breeze.

A French statue and pair of urns filled with white coral accessorized with quartz and special finds while framed with an old mirror and pair of beaded french sconces.

Ever since I was little my mom collected bird nests and sweet belongings of nature. This being one of them... she displayed under an old bell jar that sits in her entry.

A statue made of salt that Grandma Peal left to our family sits under another old bell jar that is now topped with a fanciful paper fleur making the perfect head piece.

Every square inch of their home has something this special. This plaster mold sits on an old console that leads out the French doors into the courtyard.

I love this hutch. Full of books, an old moon globe, astier birds, and paper!

A quartz bug! They are so CUTE! I have one of my own my mom gave me as a gift and I love it SO much! I think they will be available on French Blue and Co soon.

Then there's Buick! He loves anything new that comes home. He will sit and sleep on everything old. After mom bought a vintage Goyard trunk it was HIS (not hers) for weeks. :)

Sometimes I can't believe I grew up in a home like this. When I go to visit I feel like I am in one of the most beautiful places. I want everything in there and can't get enough of it. When I stay over for a night you feel like a hotel guest but even better as your surrounded with love.

Huge Paper Flowers

OK, I had to share. Over the weekend I got an email from my friend Dana who owns an adorable stationary store in North Carolina called A Fine Line. She was wondering if I could take on this job of making her huge paper flowers for her stores window as she was having a photo shoot and wanted something special. I of course said "of course!" We got inspired by Chanel's Spring 2009 Fashion show and went from there. So here's my newest discoveries and art for Fanciful Designs...

1959- A beautiful film based on a 1904 novel by William Henry Hudson. It is set in South America. Our protagonist, Abel, is driven from Caraccas by political upheaval. He flees into the jungle where he encounters a nature girl named Rima. Rima is played by Audrey Hepburn. Romance, mysticism and raw reality entwine. My favorite films are those which do well as novels and works of art. I think this weekend I'll watch a classic.

I always find inspiring things in the old set designs.

Sounds crazy but I feel like we're blogging soul mates! My little journal where I keep my torn inspirations is grey and white, pictures of white interiors, clippings of peonies and french accessories. I just had to laugh when I found Ness. If you haven't already seen her shop you must! I've gotta get one of her signature cushions. They're adorable!

The Nit Wit Home

This house or I should say creation is located in a small town called Cambria. Believe it or not, it's made completely from recycled materials! A homeless man called "Nit Wit" started building from peoples trash and random finds. Neighbors and the city were so amazed by his creation from nothing they allowed him to keep going. Up close there's shells in the concrete and tiny amazing finds he put in every inch as he built. It still stands today and remains as an unbelievable work or art and story.

Cherry Chip Cake with Homemade Buttercream Frosting. (her favorite) These were decadent. I made them and the little cupcake tags for my sisters suprise birthday party yesterday! My Mom and I decorated it in all pink! She turned 28, and I realized suprises are the best when it's an age you don't expect it. She was blown away!! Jeanna, you are the best sister to me.

White being a favorite. I could never get sick of it and can ALWAYS find something white for my home. Loving the frenchy blue wall paint combined with the subtle neutral accessories.

Oh so welcoming with it's curvy stairway base and vertical Swedish clock looking like it was made for the wall. What a beautiful entrance!!

Appreciating the natural fibers against the white, this entry feels balanced. Don't you love the asymmetrical iron urns guiding you up?

Pink and green apartment building from the Gracia neighborhood in Barcelona. Just gorgeous!

Barcelona’s most famous artist/architect Gaudi, constructed this house on the Passeig de Gracia in 1906, commissioned by a local bourgeois family, it now sits between Escada, Hermes and Cartier. Lets hope this stands forever to appreciate it's unique lines and breath taking structure. What a place!

The Paris Apartment

I recently heard about Claudia, The Paris Apartment who just launched her new amazing website. My freind emailed me a picture with these white curtains attached and I fell in love! Claudia had some of the most whimsical pictures of white curtains framing a window. There's something about them that takes you into another place.. making everything crisp, clean and clear. I love Claudia's taste... then came across her story! There's not too many people you feel you can relate to, but Claudia, you can. She explains, "For inspiration I watch 20’s and 30’s movies, read French & Deco design books - I collect tiny things; fabrics, vintage trinkets, & satin ribbons, and am fascinated by 1700’s France in the ‘Age of Enlightenment’, when all things were works of art and philosophies were flowing. - the objects they left behind are magnifique! Even a tiny scrap of cloth can be exquisitely intricate and I love to get lost in things like that!" Claudia's full story

Those tiny scraps, small objects, satin ribbons are so meaningful in my world... I have so many as they line the walls of my studio.

An old French Opera Ticket I found in one of my old books...

Along with this old ticket was a note from a lady named Bly giving her dear friend a book called " The Standard Operaglass" it covers every opera up until 1934. Bly and Mary traveled to Paris and saw operas together. She marked in the index of operas every opera they saw together.

I thought this was such a find. The ticket remains on a hook holder in my Paris Apartment.

I first discovered Sarlo from Habitually Chic One of New Yorks finest Interior Designers, Heather Clawson. Clawson said, "I love stores that look like homes. I think it makes it so much easier to picture how something would look in a room which is especially helpful for non-designers. They also look like places you would want to hang out in all day"

After reading that and getting inspired, before I knew it, I was talking to talented Gabriella Sarlo herself. A beautiful, talented designer/antique dealer fills her shop with sophisticated furnishings, vibrant vignettes, and an array of French antiques. Trips to Europe, and a great eye, there you have Sarlo. I couldn't be more thrilled to have my work surrounded by her stunning showroom.
